Independent fansite for the BBC’s Cooking show on seasonal cooking and eating

Valentine Warner continues his guide to seasonal cooking and eating, this time focusing on quick and tasty summer suppers.
Valentine tracks down the tastiest tomatoes to create his favourite pizza topping, and wades into a Scottish river to learn the art of tickling trout. He also brings the gooseberry back into fashion with a recipe for heavenly gooseberry snow, and gives us his top tips on making a delicious meal out of yesterday’s leftovers.
Packed full of delicious recipes that sing of summer, Valentine shows us how easy and rewarding it is to eat food that is in season and make the best of ingredients that are plentiful, cheap and packed full of flavour.

You are a sexist idiot; tomoatoes ‘known to man’; tickling trout like a ‘big girlie’ – whatever. Grown up little person. ugggggh
give it a rest liz miles you manky lezzar
Now, now Chuddy Al, play nice.
Liz I’d say that maybe this isn’t the prog for you
I think you’ll find the expression ‘known to man’ is being used as in (hu)man race as opposed to the gender. Example being the ‘ascent of man’ from neanderthal to present day (hu)man. I don’t think he’s particularly sexist – I think he’s quite sweet really!
Does anyone know where I can get seeds to try those amazing ‘black cuban’ tomatoes – can’t find anything on the web?
on a similar tack to Fran, can anyone tell me where you can get blasted courgette flowers from? We have a thriving market, loadsa deli’s even a Waitrose but we couldn’t find them on sale anywhere. And as for black cuban tomatoes – if Fran can’t even find the seeds what chance have us mere mortals to buy these items and try these recipes ourselves?
Valentine – could you please try to use stuff that is seasonal and findable in an ordinary average large city?
Fran – managed to find the seeds for sale here but it wasn’t easy and they aren’t cheap at £2.00 for 5 seeds !!!
